Shelbi Gardner of Sheridan To Continue Golf Career at Black Hills St.
Shelbi Gardner has been a solid performer for the Sheridan golf team and will take her skills to the next level at Black Hills State in Spearfish, South Dakota. She is a 3-time All-State selection in 4A and at the 2024 State Tournament, she placed 2nd with rounds of 81 and 77. She was 10 strokes behind Jordyn Horsley of Star Valley.
In 2023, Gardner took 3rd at the State Tournament carding rounds of 90 and 77, and finished two strokes off the pace behind Cheyenne Ward of Natrona. She was the 10th-place finisher at the 2022 State Tournament shooting 94 and 83. Gardner first picked up a club at the age of 3.
This summer, Gardner played in the Wyoming State Golf Association Amateur Tournament with a 54-hole total of 217, winning that tourney by 11 strokes. She's also played in the National High School Tournament in Frisco, Texas in 2024 and in 2022 at Pinehurst in North Carolina. Gardner was also a member of the Wyoming team in the Junior America's Cup Tournament held in Utah.
Black Hills State is a Division II school that competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
