The start of the 2024 soccer season in Wyoming has three defending champions atop the preseason WyoPreps Coaches and Media Soccer Polls. Cody and Kelly Walsh girls are joined by the Worland boys at the No. 1 spot. The only defending champion not at the top was the Thunder Basin boys in Class 4A. The Bolts were ranked fourth in the preseason poll.

A lot of the usual favorites find themselves in the rankings.

The Fillies topped the 3A girls’ division. Cody received all but one of the ten first-place votes. The two-time defending champs were followed by last year’s runner-up, Worland. Powell was third, then Douglas, and Lander.

In 4A girls, Kelly Walsh had the same number of first-place votes as Jackson, but the defending champion Trojans gathered more second-place votes for the No. 1 ranking. The Broncs were second in the preseason rankings. Natrona County held the third spot in the voting, while Thunder Basin and Laramie were fourth and fifth, respectively.

For the boys in 3A, five-time defending champion Worland was at the top with 8 of the 11 first-place votes. The Warriors were followed by Cody. Powell was third but only nine points ahead of Torrington in the voting. Douglas completed the preseason top five at No. 5.

Finally, in 4A boys, Cheyenne Central held the top spot in the rankings. The Indians were runner-up last season and got eight of the 14 first-place votes. Kelly Walsh came in second in the balloting. Jackson was third. Defending champion Thunder Basin earned two first-place votes but was only fourth in the voting. Sheridan completed the boys’ poll.
