For the first time this season, there is a new No. 1-ranked team in the WyoPreps Coaches and Media Softball Poll on Wednesday. Three-time defending state champ Thunder Basin takes over the top spot with 14 of the 20 first-place votes. The Bolt beat rival Campbell County last week and Sheridan on Monday. That improved them to 4-0 in Northeast Pod games. Cheyenne East fell to second after the Thunderbirds lost their first game of the year last week to rival Cheyenne Central in the conference portion of their Southeast Pod doubleheader. That victory pushed the Indians up to third in the new rankings. Central received votes for first through fifth. Campbell County dropped one spot to fourth. Wheatland held onto its No. 5 ranking.
