The new WyoPreps Coaches and Media Softball Poll has one small change at the bottom compared to last week. In the second to last poll of the season, Campbell County maintained the top spot, while Wheatland rejoined the rankings.

WYOMING HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL RANKINGS 5-8-24

The Camels earned all but one of the 16 first-place votes. They were 48 points clear of the next team in the poll. The Camels won three conference games on the road by double figures over the last week. They face another test on Friday against crosstown rival and still second-ranked Thunder Basin. The Bolts received the other first-place vote.

Cheyenne East held onto the third spot again. The Thunderbirds have clinched a berth in the state tournament but still could earn the No. 2 seed from the East Conference with a win in their last regular season game and some help. The Cody Fillies wrapped up the West Conference crown on Tuesday with a victory over Worland. They remained fourth in the new poll.

Wheatland jumped back into the rankings at No. 5. The Bulldogs are clinging to the fourth and final spot in the East Conference, but that is still up for grabs depending on the outcome of several games at the end of the regular season.

Only two more teams garnered votes in the poll.
