The final softball rankings changed one team for the third straight week. Campbell County kept the top spot in the latest WyoPreps Coaches and Media Softball Poll, which means the Camels carry the favorite role into the state tournament. One of the two Gillette high schools has won the softball state championship in the first three years.

Campbell County received 16 of the 17 first-place votes in the last rankings. The Camels won the East Conference with an 11-1 record. That was two games clear of cross-town rival Thunder Basin, who Campbell County beat in both conference games. The Bolts are the two-time defending champions and will look for the three-peat this weekend.

Cheyenne East and Cody remained third and fourth, respectively. The Thunderbirds finished third in the East Conference with an 8-4 mark. The Fillies wrapped up the West Conference title for a third straight year the day before last week’s rankings were released. Cody was 9-1 in league games.

Rock Springs re-entered the top five in the final poll. The Tigers were second in the West Conference at 8-2.

One other team, Laramie, picked up votes in the last poll of the 2024 season.
