Prep softball in Wyoming rolls into Week 5 of the 2024 season. It’s another week full of key conference games that are part of doubleheaders. New rankings will be released on Wednesday. The top three teams are slated to square off in Gillette this weekend. A Cheyenne East sweep at home back in Week 2 put the Thunderbirds atop the poll. Now they go on the road. Fourth-ranked Cody is at home this weekend against the two Casper schools, while the two Sweetwater County schools square off on Thursday.

TUESDAY, APRIL 9

Final Score: Cheyenne Central 18 Cheyenne South 8 (conference game) - Central used a 6-run 5th and a 6-run 6th to break the game open. Driver had 3 hits (3B, HR) & 4 RBIs for the Indians, while Thomas & Martinez added 2 hits & 3 RBIs each. Mellish had 3 hits & 2 RBIs for South.

THURSDAY, APRIL 11

Final Score: Rock Springs 8 Green River 2 (conference game) - Rock Springs led 3-0. The Wolves cut it to 3-2 in the 5th, but the Tigers scored the final five runs over 3 innings. Florencio hit a 2-run HR as part of 3 hits & 4 RBIs. Soltis allowed only 5 hits with 10Ks in the circle.

Final Score: Rock Springs 11 Green River 5 - after an early 4-4 tie, the Tigers scored 7 of the last 8 runs. Anderson had 3 hits & 4 RBIs. Florencio added 2 hits & 3 RBIs.

FRIDAY, APRIL 12

Final Score: Wheatland 11 Cheyenne South 1 (conference game) - the Bulldogs scored 4 in the 1st to take the lead for good. They capped it with 4 more in the 5th. R. Coates had 2 doubles & 3 RBIs for Wheatland. Vaughn allowed 1 run on 1 hit with 10 Ks.

Final Score: #4 Cody 21 Kelly Walsh 11 (conference game) - Fillies won a slugfest thanks to 15 runs in the last 3 innings. Wollschlager had 2 double & 1 HR with 6 RBIs for Cody. Janski had 3 hits & drove in 2 for KW.

Final Score: Kelly Walsh 9 #4 Cody 7 - Trojans scored 5 runs in the 5th for the win. Four KW batters had 2 hits each. Sisco drove in 2 runs for KW. The go-ahead run scored on an RBI sac fly.

Final Score: Natrona County 8 Worland 1 (conference game) - Sale had 2 triples, 1 HR & 5 RBIs for NC. Gokey allowed 1 run on 7 hits with 7 Ks.

Final Score: Natrona County 6 Worland 3 - a 5-run 3rd pushed NC to the road sweep. Randolph had 2 hits & 1 RBI.

Final Score: #2 Thunder Basin 8 #1 Cheyenne East 3 (conference game) - after an early 1-1 tie, the Bolts scored the next 6 runs to take control. Shawver led TB with 3 hits & 1 RBI.

Final Score: #1 Cheyenne East 15 #2 Thunder Basin 3 - Brooks & Stephenson both homered and had 3 RBIs each for the T-Birds.

Final Score: #3 Campbell County 16 Cheyenne Central 0 (conference game) - A. Gray tossed a 3-hit shutout with 10 Ks in the circle. Kimbley had 2 HRs and 4 RBIs at the plate.

Final Score: Cheyenne Central 10 #3 Campbell County 7 - Indians jumped out to an 8-4 lead and held on. Kelly had 3 hits (2B) & 3 RBIs for Central.

SATURDAY, APRIL 13

Final Score: #3 Campbell County 8 #1 Cheyenne East 4 (conference game) - Camels jumped out to a 6-1 lead and held off the Indians. Kimbley has a 3-run HR in the 2nd inn.

Final Score: #1 Cheyenne East 14 #3 Campbell County 4 - the T-Birds jumped out to an 11-1 lead and never looked back. Millar had 2 hits, including 1 HR & 5 RBIs.

Final Score: #2 Thunder Basin 16 Cheyenne Central 1 (conference game) - Bolts broke it open with a 12-run 3rd. Selfors had 3 hits & 3 RBIs and West added 2 hits & 4 RBIs.

Final Score: #2 Thunder Basin 21 Cheyenne Central 1 - The Bolts score multiple runs in their 4 trips to the plate. Clonch led the offense with 3 hits & 4 RBIs.

Final Score: Wheatland 5 #5 Laramie 3 (conference game) - the Bulldogs scored 2 runs in the fifth on a single by Jones to take the lead for good. Mickelsen had 2 hits, including a solo HR for Wheatland.

Final Score: #5 Laramie 9 Wheatland 7 - a 5-run 3rd put the Plainsmen up 7-1, and they held off the Bulldogs. Kricken had 2 doubles & 2 RBIs for Laramie.

Final Score: Natrona County 10 #4 Cody 6 (conference game) - NC broke a 3-3 tie with 5 runs in the 3rd and 4th combined. Hartman led the Fillies with 4 hits & 2 RBIs. Randolph and Malson both homered for NC.

Final Score: Natrona County 8 #4 Cody 7 - NC held on. With an 8-3 lead, NC saw Cody score 4 runs in the 7th but the rally fell short. Gomez had 1 hit & 3 RBIs for NC.

Final Score: Kelly Walsh 20 Worland 3 (conference game) - the Trojans pulled away with 16 runs in their final 3 at-bats. Hoyt had 4 hits & 4 RBIs for KW.

Final Score: Kelly Walsh 19 Worland 4 - a 12-run 3rd inning broke it open for the Trojans. Attaway had a 2B, 3B, & 4 RBIs. Dallman-Janski added 3 hits & 3 RBIs for KW.
