Southeast Sprinter Ryan Clapper Looking for a Coveted State Title
One of the speedsters in Wyoming high school track and field is Ryan Clapper from Southeast. At last week's SEWAC meet in Pine Bluffs, Clapper won the 100-meter dash in 11.29 and the 200 in 22.50. He placed 2nd in the 400 meters but his 4x100 meter relay team placed first and set the meet record in the process.
A year ago at the state outdoor meet, Clapper took 2nd in the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. At the state indoor meet in March, competing for Torrington, Clapper had a couple of more 2nd place finishes in the 200 and the 400. After so many silver medals, the young man has his sights set on gold at the upcoming state track meet in Casper.
Clapper is a sensational football player at the running back spot for Southeast as he rushed for 1452 yards and 19 touchdowns. No wonder he is a three-time all-state selection on the gridiron.
We had a chance to talk with Clapper at the Pine Bluffs meet about what he has accomplished and what's in store for the rest of the season.
