Midwest High School has announced the hiring of Starla Powers as its new girls’ basketball head coach on Friday.

Powers is a teacher at Midwest School and lives in Casper. She has served as an assistant basketball coach for six seasons.

The Midwest Oilers girls’ basketball team has endured tough times. They’ve won one game over the past two seasons. Midwest hasn’t qualified for the state tournament since 2005, according to wyoming-basketball.com.
