When Thunder Basin played their first season of boys basketball in 2017-18, they went 5-18. As time went on, the quality of basketball went up with 3 straight State Tournament appearances. Now in 2022, the Bolts are 4A State Champions thanks to a 52-42 win over Cheyenne East on Saturday in Casper. Thunder Basin went 24-3 this season thanks to a dynamic player in Deagan Williams. He is not a one-man team by any means but he does a lot of things on both ends of the floor. Williams finished with 13 points on Saturday vs. East with Ethan Cox throwing in 12 and McKale Holte chipped in 11.

Cheyenne East had a pretty good shooting night going 48% from the field but was 1-6 in 3 pointers and 9-14 from the line. Garet Schlabs was sensational with 17 points with Drew Jackson adding 8. The Thunderbirds finished 22-6 and the program has made 6 straight appearances in the state tournament.
