A year ago, the Thunder Basin girl's softball team entered the State Tournament as the #1 seed from the east but went 1-2 in the tourney. The Bolts plan to atone for that in 2022 with a team that returns 4 all-state players in Emma Kimberling, Lauren O'Loughlin, Caitline Paul, and Jaci Piercy. Plus they have a super sophomore in Macie Selfors who was all-conference in 2021.

Back on Thursday, Thunder Basin swept Wheatland in a doubleheader on the road 3-1 and 13-1. That first game of the twin bill obviously was a very competitive game with Logan Brown hitting her 2nd home run of the year and pitcher Ella Partlow striking out 15 and allowing just one hit.

Thunder Basin has a big doubleheader scheduled for Friday against Laramie and the season will move very quickly. After game 1 of the Wheatland doubleheaders, we caught up with Emma Kimberling and Logan Brown about the game, the season to date, and the road to a potential state title.
