Tongue River's Maddy Hill had a strong effort in the 2021 2A State Track Meet in Casper with a 4th place finish in the 400-meter dash in 1.02.42. She also placed 4th in the triple jump going 31 feet 5 inches. Hill was also a member of the state champion 4x400 relay team and her 4x100 relay squad took 3rd. Tongue River by the way won the team state championship by a large margin.

Hill didn't even start running cross country until her senior year and lo and behold, she won the 2A state championship in 20.19.39. That kind of success earned her a spot with Black Hills State in Spearfish, South Dakota where she will compete in track and cross country.

Black Hills State was on her radar from the beginning and the school is at the Division II level and competes in the Rocky Mountain athletic conference.
