Tongue River distance runner Wyatt Ostler has elected to continue his college career at Black Hills State in Spearfish, South Dakota. Ostler has finished 3rd for 3 straight years at the State 2A Cross Country meet and has displayed dramatic improvement. His time this fall was 17.24.88 compared with a time of over 18 minutes back in 2019. He earned all-state status in all 3 of those seasons.

In the 2021 season, 2A Outdoor State Championships, he took 3rd in the 3200 with a time of 10.41.91. Oster also competes in the Tongue River basketball team. He's also the first Eagle distance runner to sign with a college program.

More than a few athletes have signed with Black Hills State recently. The Yellow Jackets compete in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference at the Division II level.
