The teams will decide which one really is #1 in the post-season, because the coaches and media rankings are only for the regular season.

Normally we release the boys and girls rankings separately, but since the regular season is over, we decided to release them at the same time.

In the final 4A boys rankings, Kelly Walsh is back on top after returning the favor to former #1, now #2 Rock Springs. For the most part, last week's game was just for seeding purposes, and there's a good chance that KW and RS will meet again, although #5 Evanston will try to crash the party. The Tigers may have something to prove, because last year, they held the #1 seed, went 0-2 at the regional tournament and then did the same thing at the state tournament. Meanwhile, Gillette is back up to #3 and Sheridan is down to #4 after last week's OT win by the Camels, who host the East Regional Tournament. Both Gillette and the Broncs have a first round bye.

There's no change in the final 3A Boys rankings, because not much happened in the last week of the regular season. #1 Riverton survived a scare at home vs. Lander, but they retain the unanimous #1 ranking and are still undefeated. #2 Worland might have to go through #5 Torrington and #3 Douglas at the East Regional Tournament in Buffalo this weekend. #4 Lyman will play at the West Regional Tournament at Riverton.

We've said it before...the #5 ranking in 4A girls basketball is not the place to be, because that's the team that gets beat each week. Rock Springs is back in the #5 spot. As for the rest of the rankings...Gillette is the unanimous #1, followed by Cheyenne East, Natrona and Laramie, who are all unchanged from last week.

Despite losing their first game of the season last week, all eyes are still on #1 Douglas in the final 3A girls rankings of the season. The Lady Bearcats have a potential rematch with unranked Buffalo in the semi-finals of the East Regional Tournament, held at Buffalo. As for rankings #3, #4 and #5, the musical chairs played one more time in the Southwest. Lyman moves back up to #3, after securing the #1 seed, at the expense of #4 Mountain View. MV could be in a favorable spot at the West Regional Tournament, because the Lady Buffalos are on the opposite side of the bracket, from both the Lady Eagles and #5 Star Valley.

The final 2A and 1A rankings of the season were released last week.

Disclaimer: The rankings have no official say on post-season positioning, and are only to be used as a measuring stick on the regular season. Please don't read too much into the rankings.
