After this weekend, the calendar will turn over to February, and that can put pressure on a team, regardless if they're in the coaches/media rankings or not.

This is a big weekend in 4A, as 4 of the top 5 teams play each other twice. The only team not involved in the fray is #1 Natrona. Cheyenne East and Gillette stay at #2 and #3 respectively, while Sheridan and Cheyenne Central are tied for #4. All of the action is in north-northeast Wyoming this weekend, as the Cheyenne teams visit both the Lady Camels and Lady Broncs.

Worland is the place to be for basketball action in 3A. Both the Warriors and Lady Warriors are ranked #1 this week. The girls are unanimous after a good performance to start northeast conference play. Newcastle and Mountain View change places in the rankings, with the Lady Dogies moving up 1 position. Pinedale is has been making a slow climb up the top 5 in the past few weeks, and Star Valley is back in at #5.

Things could get interesting this week in 2A, and even more interesting next week. The top 3 teams are unchanged (Lyman, Pine Bluffs and Southeast). Wright is in the polls for the first time this season at #4 as a result of their big win last week at now unranked Big Horn. Wyoming Indian is in the #5 spot, and has a big game this weekend at Lyman. February means there's only 3 weeks left in the regular season, and PB and SE still have to play each other twice, but they'll worry about that later.

There's no change in the top 4 in 1A. St. Stephens is the unanimous #1, followed by Cokeville, Encampment and Little Snake River. The Lady Rattlers visit the Lady Tigers this weekend, in what should be a good game in the southwest. Meanwhile, Kaycee is back in the rankings at #5.

Disclaimer: The polls have no official say or use on post-season positioning, and are only to be used as a measuring stick on the regular season. Please don’t read too much into the rankings.
