Cheyenne East Rises to Top of 4A Girls in Updated WyoPreps Rankings

A new top-ranked team in Class 4A girls is the biggest change in the new WyoPreps Coaches and Media Basketball Polls, revealed on Wednesday. Cheyenne East moved to the top of 4A after a strong weekend at the James Johnson Winter Showcase tournament. Big Horn was alone at the top of 2A, as Sundance fell out of a tie for first. The Bulldogs were six points behind in second. Last week’s girls’ poll featured three ties. There are none in this week’s rankings. One team rejoined the top five in the 2A girls division. In the boys’ poll, two new teams moved into the top five.

WYOPREPS COACHES AND MEDIA BASKETBALL POLLS 1-14-26

Cokeville’s strong start to conference play last week pushed the Panthers up to No. 2 in Class 1A girls. Thermopolis rejoined the 2A girls’ top five in fifth. Pinedale moved up to third in 3A, and in 4A, Green River was second, and Sheridan fell to third.

Class 1A:

1 = Burlington

2 = Cokeville

3 = Little Snake River

4 = Southeast

5 = Upton

Class 2A:

1 = Big Horn

2 = Sundance

3 = Wyoming Indian

4 = Tongue River

5 = Thermopolis

Class 3A:

1 = Cody

2 = Lander

3 = Pinedale

4 = Lovell

5 = Douglas

Class 4A:

1 = East

2 = Green River

3 = Sheridan

4 = Thunder Basin

5 = Laramie

The Bison and Indians move into the boys' rankings

The No. 1’s in the boys’ poll remained the same. Teams traded spots in 1A and 2A, while Buffalo and Cheyenne Central made their debut in 3A and 4A, respectively.
