Both cross country and downhill skiers will be back in action this weekend.

Nordic Skiing

After a weekend off last week, at least from the high school schedule, the cross country skiers return to Casper for the second time this season. The seven teams will race on the Casper Mountain Nordic Trails.

Lander swept the freestyle sprints on Friday with Kaylynn Sandall and Kaleb Simonson winning.

Saturday saw Abigail Whitman of Laramie and Simonson from Lander win the classic races.

Friday, Jan. 31: 1.5km freestyle/skate sprints

Saturday, Feb. 1: 6km classic race

Alpine Skiing

It’s off to the White Pines Ski Resort in Sublette County for the Pinedale Invitational. The six downhill skiing teams will have the same format they’ve seen in the first two races.

Jackson's Sophie Morgan and Nicholas Janssen swept the weekend, as did the Jackson teams.

Girls Team Scores: Jackson 155, Cody 77, Natrona 47, Kelly Walsh 29, Laramie 23, Pinedale 11

Boys Team Scores: Jackson 133, Cody 99, Kelly Walsh 64, Natrona 24, Pinedale 15, Laramie 7

Friday, Jan. 31: Slalom

 

Saturday, Feb. 1: Giant Slalom

Both disciplines will take next weekend off from high school competitions.
