Pinedale Hosts 2026 Wyoming Nordic Skiing State Championships

The Wyoming High School Nordic Skiing State Championships will wrap up the 2026 season outside of Pinedale this weekend. The Skyline Nordic Trail System, adjacent to the White Pines Ski Area north of Pinedale, serves as the host site on Friday and Saturday. This year’s championships feature a shorter freestyle or skate race and a longer classic race. Sheridan’s Kayley Alicke returns to defend her crown in the freestyle, and Raina Wachob of Cody is back to defend her title in the classic competition on the girls’ side. For the boys, there will be new champions in both races this year.

WYOPREPS 2026 NORDIC SKIING STATE CHAMPIONSHIP OUTLOOK

The championships were moved from the original site on South Pass outside of Lander to Pinedale due to snow conditions. That was announced by the Wyoming High School Activities Association (WHSAA) in early February.

GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP BREAKDOWN:

Defending Champ = Jackson (trying to repeat & win a 26th in school history)

Defending Event Champs = Kayley Alicke from Sheridan won last year’s freestyle race. Raina Wachob of Cody won last year’s classic race.

Teams Participating = Cody, Jackson, Kelly Walsh, Lander, Laramie, Natrona County, Pinedale, Sheridan

Schedule:

Friday, 2-27-26: 5km Freestyle or Skate race, 11 a.m. (15-second interval starts)

Saturday, 2-28-26: 10km Classic, 10 a.m. (15-second interval starts)
