
Casper Mountain Hosts Thrilling Weekend for Downhill and Nordic Skiers
For the second straight week, both downhill and cross-country skiers will compete on the same weekend. This time, both will be on the same mountain in Casper. Alpine skiing competes on Thursday and Friday in races hosted by Kelly Walsh. Nordic skiers will race on Friday and Saturday in races hosted by Natrona County. This is Week 8 of the Wyoming High School skiing season.
WYOPREPS WEEK 8 SKIING SCHEDULE 2026
The 2026 KWHS Bruce Studer Invitational is at Hogadon Basin Ski Area on Casper Mountain. Thursday is a giant slalom (GS) starting at 2 p.m. on the Boomerang ski run. Friday will be a slalom race on the same ski run beginning at 10 a.m. The schools competing this weekend are Casper Kelly Walsh, Casper Natrona County, Cody, Jackson, Laramie, and Pinedale. Over 120 skiers will race at various levels. The Natrona County girls and Jackson boys took first in the team standings last week at the Cody Invite in Red Lodge, MT. Skiers from NC and Jackson won the individual races.
Girls Teams Scores = Cody 96, Natrona County 81, Pinedale 76, Kelly Walsh 60, Laramie 24, Jackson 6.
Boys Team Scores = Jackson 98, Pinedale 83, Natrona County 45, Laramie 44, Kelly Walsh 42, Cody 30.
Thursday GS Race Results
Evie Crawford from NC won the girls' race after a two-run combined time of 1:13.79. Jean Marie Wells from KW took second. Laramie's Kaia Karleen was third.
Sage Kandolin from Jackson won the boys' race. His time was 1:08.20, almost 3 seconds ahead of the next skier. Teddy Peightal of Jackson placed second, and NC's Lucas Crawford finished third.
Friday Slalom Race Results
Pinedale's Ellie Tolson won the girls' race. She skied the two runs in 1:35.93 for a 4-plus second victory. KW's Jean Marie Wells placed second again, and Evie Crawford from NC was third.
Jackson's Teddy Peightal won the boys' slalom after a two-run combined time of 1:23.80. Teammates Brett Lane and Sage Kandolin were second and third, respectively.

Nordic Skiing Has Its Second Action on Casper Mountain
Cross-country skiers take to the trails at the Casper Mountain Trails Center for the Jacobson Memorial Nordic Ski Meet. Friday features a 7km classic race with individual starts at 1 p.m. The varsity boys will ski first, followed by the varsity girls, then JV. Saturday is a 1.4km freestyle sprint race at 9 a.m. There will be four rounds for each gender across a six-ladder format alternating every 30 minutes. The top 2 finishers will move up to the next heat. The middle placers will remain, and the bottom 2 will move down a heat. The top 30 skiers will receive all-state points.
Friday Classic Race Results
Olivia Tolson from Pinedale won the girls' race at 25:46.8. She was 11.9 seconds ahead of Kayley Alicke of Sheridan, and Raina Wachob from Cody finished third.
Kelly Walsh's Everett Roberson won his third consecutive high school race. He captured first place at 21:10.4. Roberson won by over 21 seconds ahead of Abe Hughes from Sheridan. Pinedale Darin Binning placed third.
Saturday Sprint Race Results
After completing rounds of competition, the girls' winner was Raina Wachob from Cody. Olivia Tolson from Pinedale was second, and Cody teammate Hailie Schramm placed third.
For the boys, Darin Binning from Pinedale topped the field. Everett Roberson from KW took second, and Braden Bosco of NC finished third.
