The soccer season kicked off over the weekend with an intriguing interclass match-up as 3A Worland met 4A Sheridan in girls' and boys' play. Worland is the 3-time boys State Champion in 3A and was the pre-season #1 in our WyoPreps poll. The Warriors lost their season-opening match to Sheridan 1-0 as the Broncs scored the go-ahead goal with 16:30 to play. This is the first loss for the Worland boys in over 5 years but rebounded to beat #2 Cody on Saturday 1-0. Sheridan was ranked 5th in the WyoPreps 4A preseason poll and took 3rd at last year's state tournament and 2nd in 2022. The Broncs made it 2 for 2 over the weekend with a 4-2 win over Buffalo.

On the girl's side, Sheridan came up with 3, 2nd half goals to down Worland 4-0. Sheridan has qualified for the 4A State Tournament for the last 3 years and Worland played for the 3A State Championship last season and lost to Cody in the final 4-0. Sheridan ended the weekend with a 12-1 win over Buffalo and the ladies from Worland who were ranked 2nd in our preseason poll dropped a 2-0 decision to #1 Cody. Sheridan and Worland will certainly be factors in their respective classifications this season.
