Wyoming with Championship Hopes at NHSFR
The National High School Finals Rodeo is nearing it's conclusion in Gillette with the Wyoming boy and girls in the hunt for national titles. The boys team is running 2nd overall after Thursday's performances with Tuker Carricato of Saratoga leading the 2nd go-round of the bareback with a 78 and was also leading the average with 156 on 2. Roedy Farrell of Thermopolis is 6th in the average. Broc Schwartzkoph out of Douglas is 5th in the boys cutting in the 2nd round and 3rd in the reined cow horse event. Schwartzkoph is 8th in the average of that event. Jake Schlattmann of Greybull is 6th in the 2nd round of the saddle bronc with a 67 and 7th in the average.
On the girls side, Team Wyoming is 3rd heading into Friday but it was a tough day for Yoder's Haiden Thompson in the goat tying. She is the defenduing national champion in the event and won the 1st go but turned in an 11.43 in the 2nd go and is 20th in the average. Rayne Grant of Wheatland is having a spectacular rodeo as she is 10th in the 2nd round of the barrel racing and is 4th in the average. Grant is also sitting in 2ndplace in the all-around. Kaeley Hutchinson of Rozet is 13th in the 2nd round of the breakaway roping and 2nd in the average. Ashlyn Goven from Rozet is 4th in the all-around and 11th in the 2nd go-round of the pole bending.
