The second WyoPreps Game of the Week is on Friday, and it’s the battle for the Bridger Valley.

The Eagles are coming off their first loss at Lovell last Friday, 20-12. They are 3-1 on the season and 1-1 in league action.

Mountain View defeated Thermopolis 14-0 last week. The Buffalos are 4-0 and 1-0 in the conference.

This is one of those games where you can throw out the records and what type of season both teams are having because it’s a rivalry.

WyoPreps spoke with Buffalos’ head coach Brent Walk and Lyman’s head coach Dale Anderson this week. Coach Walk discussed how Mountain View’s season is going through the first four games, and what’s going right versus what needs fixing. Coach Anderson spoke about his squad coming off a difficult road loss. Both touched on the rivalry, what each other’s teams look like, and some basic, fundamental keys for their team to be successful.

Both teams rely on the ground attack to set the tone. The Eagles average 234 yards per, but Mountain View isn’t far behind at 220 yards per game. One of the strengths of both defenses is their ability to stuff the run. Lyman allows only 56 yards rushing per game, while the Buffalos give up 90 yards per game.

QB Carter Bradshaw paces the Eagles at 142.5 yards per game. He’s scored 10 TDs this season.

Mountain View counters with the one-two punch of Jayce Schultz and Justus Platts. Both average better than 79 yards per game on the ground.

Max Gregory of Lyman and Schultz (MV) rank fourth and fifth in Class 2A in defensive points per game to anchor two stingy defenses.

The series began in 1955. This will be the 84th time these two rivals meet on a football field, and according to records kept by wyoming-football.com, Mountain View leads the series 49-34. Lyman has won three straight in the series.

The game starts at 4 p.m.
