The four defending state champs top the second WyoPreps Coaches and Media Soccer Polls of the 2023 season.

The new No. 1 was in 3A boys’ soccer, where four-time defending champ Worland took the top spot by three points in the voting. That change, plus two new teams in the two 4A polls highlighted the second rankings.

The Warriors received five of the nine first-place votes in 3A boys. That was enough to end Powell’s run at the top. The Panther dropped to second. The rest of the top five remained the same. Cody held onto third by just three points over Lander. Green River stayed at No. 5.

In 3A girls, the ranked teams didn’t change. Cody garnered all but one first-place vote. Lander was second. Mountain View held onto third by only six points over Buffalo, who earned the other first-place vote. Green River rounded out the girls’ top five.

Thunder Basin was a unanimous choice for No. 1 in 4A girls. Natrona County and Jackson stayed in second and third, respectively. Kelly Walsh climbed to fourth, and Cheyenne East made its debut at No. 5. After the preseason poll, two 4A girls’ teams fell out of the top five.

Finally, in 4A boys, there was one change at the bottom of the rankings. Jackson earned a majority of the votes for the top spot. Kelly Walsh, Sheridan, and Rock Springs maintained their positions in the poll. Cheyenne Central jumped into the fifth spot. Five other teams received votes.
