With only a few weeks left in the high school girls’ swimming & diving season, Green River is one of the favorites.

One of the reasons why is senior Alexa Lauze. The distance freestyle swimmer has the second-fastest time in the 500 freestyle during this 2020 season.

Lauze also ranks seventh in the 200 freestyle and fifth in the breaststroke event.

WyoPreps’ David Settle spoke to Lauze in the video at the top of this story. In the conversation a couple of weeks ago, Lauze talked about her love for swimming, adjusting to the distance freestyle events and enjoying it, overall how her senior season is going, plus her fervor for swimming, how Green River is now in Class 3A and considered a favorite for the team title.

Settle also discussed Lauze with Green River coach Colleen Seiloff, as well as another senior in Lauren Jensen, plus how the Wolves’ season is going, moving to Class 3A, and more.

Lauze and her teammates will compete in the conference championships this weekend. They’ll be competing in Pinedale on Friday and Saturday.

The 3A State Swimming and Diving Championships are on Nov. 6 and 7 in Laramie.
