Thursday’s new WyoPreps Coaches and Media Volleyball Poll is highlighted by two new teams ranked atop their classification.

Those changes impact 3A and 1A, while Class 4A has the only new team to the poll.

Pinedale is alone at the top of 3A for the first time this season. A couple of weeks ago, the Wranglers were tied for first but now they are by themselves thanks to seven first-place votes. Mountain View’s straight-set win at previous No. 1 Rawlins pushes the Buffalos into second. The Outlaws fall to No. 3. Douglas and Lyman trade spots with the Bearcats fourth and the Eagles now fifth.

In 1A, Kaycee takes over the top spot. They were one of three teams with the same amount of first-place votes but the tallies from two through five were enough to place the Buckaroos at No. 1. H.E.M. and Meeteetse both climb in this week’s rankings, as the Miners and Longhorns are tied for second. Cokeville drops to fourth, while Upton slides down one to fifth. Five other teams earned at least one vote this week.

The top three are the same in Class 4A. Laramie received all but one first-place vote and stays No. 1. Thunder Basin and Kelly Walsh follow in second and third, respectively. Cheyenne East moves back to fourth, while the Cody Fillies make their debut in the rankings this season at No. 5.

2A was the only class without a change. Sundance remains on top followed by Moorcroft, Riverside, Tongue River, and Big Horn.

There are a total of seven matches this weekend that sees ranked teams squaring off on the volleyball court. It starts on Thursday with the Bridger Valley rivalry between Mountain View and Lyman. Friday has a pair of interclass matches between ranked foes. 2A Riverside and 1A Meeteetse face each other at the Riverside Duels, while 1A Kaycee travels north to face 2A Big Horn. Saturday will feature a top-5 matchup in the Capital City, as Kelly Walsh visits Cheyenne East. There’s a conference match with Sundance at Big Horn in 2A, and two interclass battles with 4A Laramie at 3A Douglas and 1A Cokeville at 3A Pinedale.
