Reload, that’s what the Douglas Bearcats football program will try to do in the 2023 season.

The WyoPreps Preseason Football Tour is back for another year. It allows us to visit with players and coaches from various programs ahead of the new season.

This year’s tour keeps us closer to home, as we roam through the southeast portion of the state.

Our third stop took us up the interstate to Converse County and a visit with perennial Class 3A contender, the Douglas Bearcats.

Seniors Tegen Seeds, Logan Ortega, and Brody Wagner joined us to discuss how the first few days of practice have gone, some keys for the Bearcats to be successful this year, what they need to do in the next couple of weeks to prepare for the regular season, and more.

WyoPreps also took time to chat with 18th-year head coach Jay Rhoades. He touched on the great group of players he’s working with, a little more time to get ready for the season, how he characterizes this season’s team (early on), what they’re focusing on, and more.

The Bearcats went 8-2 last year. They fell in the semifinals of the 3A playoffs to eventual state champion Star Valley.
