PhotoFest: State Volleyball Day #2

The State Volleyball Tournament rolled along in Casper on Friday with semi-final round play and action in the consolation round. In 4A, the two #1 seeds will meet for the State Championship on Saturday at 4:30 at the Ford Center as defending champion Laramie takes on Kelly Walsh. Laramie advanced with a 3 sets to one win over Sheridan in the semi-final round while KW swept Thunder Basin 3-0. In the consolation round, Cheyenne East beat Star Valley in 5 sets and Natrona defeated Green River in 4 sets, On Saturday morning, Sheridan plays East in a loser-out match with Thunder Basin taking on Natrona with the loser eliminated. The winners of those two matches will play for 3rd place at 2:30.

In 3A, the two #1 seeds will meet for all the marbles on Saturday at 4:30 as Cody will take on Douglas. Cody competed in 4A last season, taking 3rd, and advanced to the state championship match with a 3 sets to one win over Wheatland. Douglas had their hands full with Powell and prevailed in 5 sets, 25-15, 24-26, 25-21, 14-25 and 15-8. Pinedale defeated Rawlins in the consolation round and needed 5 sets to do that while Torrington eliminated Lovell. Saturday morning Powell will play Pinedale and Wheatland takes on Torrington with the winners playing for 3rd place at 2:30

Over in 2A, defending champion Big Horn will have a chance to repeat after a 3 sets to one win over Pine Bluffs. The Rams will play their rival, Tongue River for the state title on Saturday at 4:30 as the Eagles downed Sundance 3-0. In the consolation round, Rocky Mountain defeated Shoshoni and Thermopolis eliminated Big Piney. On Saturday morning, Pine Bluffs tangles with Rocky Mountain while Sundance takes on Thermopolis. The winners will meet for 3rd place at 2:30.

Finally, in 1A  Cokeville will have a chance to repeat as state champs thanks to 3 sets to one win over Southeast who entered the tourney as the #1 seed from the East. Cokeville draws Little Snake River in the title match on Saturday at 4:30 as the Rattlers beat Upton in the semi-finals 3-0. Encampment defeated Lusk in 5 sets in the consolation round and Riverside stayed alive with a 5 set win over Lingle-Fort Laramie. It's  Southeast and Encampment in a loser-out match on Saturday morning with Upton and Riverside in the other loser-out contest. Those winners go for 3rd place on Saturday afternoon.
