The 2A state golf tournament was held over the weekend in Lusk. On the boy's side, the man of the tournament was Hardy Johnson of Thermopolis as he won the 2a state title for the 2ndyear in a row.  This year he shot 70 in the first round and 74 in the 2nd to beat Nick Summers of Tongue River by 20 strokes. Last year, Johnson won the state title with round of 79-77. Summers, by the way, shot 82 and 82.  Micah Shaner of Lusk took 3rd, shooting 84 and 83. Wrights Perry Benedict was 4th carding 87 and 84 while Blake Wood of Kemmerer with an 89 and 85. Teamwise for the 2A boys, Thermopolis was first and they took the gold medal by a whopping 45 strokes. Big Horn was 2nd, Kemmerer 3rd, Tongue River 4th, and Lusk 5th

On the girl's side, Sundance freshman, Sheridan Schubarth won the state championship by 13 strokes over Brooklyn Materi of Upton. Schubarth shot 99 in the opening round and 100 in the 2nd round. Materi carded round of 97 and 115. The 3rd place finisher was Sadie Koltiska of Tongue River. She was 5th at state a year ago. Last years 2A state champion, Vicky Van Fleet of Wright placed 4th this year while Allie Crawford of Sundance was 5th this year. In the girl's teams standings, Sundance wins the state championship by 11 strokes over Tongue River with Upton 3rd, Lusk 5th. Big Horn and Moorcroft tied for 5th.
