Cheyenne’s Reisdorfer Receives Athlete of the Week Honor 6-6-24 [VIDEO]
The best performance a pitcher can have on the baseball mound led to the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming WyoPreps Athlete of the Week award. The recipient was Cheyenne Sixers hurler Ethan Reisdorfer. He tossed a perfect game last week at a tournament in South Dakota. His effort came during the week from May 28 through June 2, 2024.
WYOPREPS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK AWARD: JUNE 6, 2024
Reisdorfer’s perfect game came last Saturday morning (6-1-24) at the Black Hills Veterans Classic in Rapid City. The right-hander needed only 38 pitches in a 9-0 victory over the Westco Zephyrs of Scottsbluff, NE. His final line was four innings pitched, three strikeouts, no runs, no hits, and zero walks. No other baserunners were allowed. Not on an error or a hit batter. Zero. It was a perfect game! Ironically, it gave then-Cheyenne manager Ty Lain his 500th career win as the Sixers skipper. That was one of five victories last weekend by Cheyenne, who won the tournament title with a 5-0 record. The Sixers outscored their opponents 43-2. Reisdorfer added two walks and two runs scored at the plate last weekend.
WyoPreps caught up with Reisdorfer on Thursday morning. He admitted that he was not aware of his perfect game until after it was over and teammates came storming on the field to mob him. He discussed what it took to toss the perfecto, his strategy, a close call or two, his contribution to that big weekend, and more.
Congratulations to Ethan on receiving our weekly honor!
