The first WyoPreps Athlete of the Year Award for Girls’ Nordic Skiing is presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming, in cooperation with Wyld Gear. The winner is Natrona County junior Ally Wheeler. She defended her cross-country skiing titles in the classic and freestyle disciplines.

Wheeler conquered the state championships at the Casper Mountain Trails Center. The junior won her second consecutive 5km freestyle state title on Feb. 23, 2024. Wheeler skated the course at 15:07.15. She won by over one minute and 12 seconds. Ally followed that with an even more dominant win in the 10km classic race on Feb. 24, 2024. Wheeler captured her second straight title in that event with a time of 31:07.00. Her margin of victory was nearly two minutes and 45 seconds. She won every race she skied in during the Wyoming High School Nordic skiing season. That included dominant wins in Lander and Jackson. Wheeler also skied in national and international races during the 2023-24 season.
