Austin Cowen's baseball dream will continue.

The former Gillette Roughrider and Western Illinois Leatherneck was selected in the 35th round of the Major League Baseball Amateur draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Cowen was recently playing shortstop at WIU, by the Dodgers drafted him as a catcher.

He was a member of Gillette's only Legion Baseball state championship team, back in 2008.

Cowen is currently 2nd in Roughrider history in terms of singles (186) and 3rd in total hits (259).

This past season at WIU, he batted .317 and led the team in RBI's with 41.

Cowen is the 2nd Roughrider to be drafted by an MLB team is as many years.

Last year, Ryan Hutchinson was selected in the 49th round by the San Diego Padres.
