Gillette Baseball Player Hayden Sylte Inks with North Dakota St.

Gillette Roughriders pitcher Hayden Sylte was an early signee for Division 1 North Dakota State but still has some work to do at the American Legion level. The State AA tournament begins this week in Rock Springs and the Riders have some great pitching thanks to Sylte who has a perfect game to his credit this season. In 2020, he has thrown 48 innings with 64 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.17

In 2019, Sylte was equally effective with an ERA of 1.90, striking out 84 guys in 67 innings on the mound. All that led him to be named the Wyoming Pitcher of the Year.

Sylte also played basketball at Thunder Basin and averaged 10 points a game in 2019-20 and made 71 three-pointers. In his junior year, he threw in 9 points a game and rang the three bell 51 times.
