Gillette baseball player Brody Richardson will be headed to Arizona as he signed with Scottsdale Community College. Richardson has a big-time arm and set the Gillette Riders team record with 126 strikeouts on the mound. He went 8-6 as a pitcher with an earned run average of 2.27. That strong arm really was useful when Richardson was catching. Runners trying to steal 2nd base or 3rd base did it at their own peril.

At the plate in 2021, Richardson hit .330 with an on-base percentage of .436. He drove in 77 runs, scored 50 times, and hit 5 home runs with 18 doubles. Richardson has been a 1st team all-state selection in AA American Legion baseball for the last two years and was a 2nd team all-state pick back in 2019. Gillette appeared in this year's Northwest Regional, in which they hosted and had an overall record in 2021 of 50-26.

Richardson also played football for Thunder Basin as a middle linebacker and rang up 81 tackles for the Bolts in the 2020 season with 27 of them solo. He had 10 tackle game against Rock Springs and 7.5 tackles vs. Kelly Walsh. He finished the year with 7 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, and an interception.

The Fighting Artichokes of Scottsdale Community College is a 2-year junior college that had a record of 17-22 on the baseball diamond in 2021.
