The Jackson Broncs won both team and the four individual titles at the 2020 Wyoming State Nordic Skiing Championships outside of Cody last weekend.

The Jackson girls won their ninth consecutive team title with 240 points. They were pushed by Lander, who finished just 10 points back. Natrona County took third.

Jackson’s boys’ captured their second state championship in a row and 10th in the last 11 years. They scored 267 points and beat runner-up Lander by 77. Laramie finished in third place.

Defending champion Elijah Weenig of Jackson kept his titles for another year, as he won both races at the state championships. Weenig crossed the finish line first in Friday’s 5km freestyle race 34 seconds ahead of the next closest skier. He came back on Saturday and won the 10km classic race by 24 seconds.

Two different Jackson girl’s won the two races at state last weekend. On Friday, Kate Brigham took the top honor in the 5km freestyle race. Her teammate, Natalie O’Brien, won Saturday’s 10km classic.

3: Kaylynn Sandall, Lander – 19:34.4

Boys 5km Freestyle:

1: Elijah Weenig, Jackson – 15:57.9

2: Mason Wheeler, Jackson – 16:32.1

3: Samuel Johnson, Jackson – 16:36.1

Girls 10km Classic:

1: Natalie O’Brien, Jackson – 31:27.9

2: Kate Brigham, Jackson – 31:43.3

3: Abigail Whitman, Laramie – 32:15.6

Boys 10km Classic:

1: Elijah Weenig, Jackson – 25:42.2

2: Kaleb Simonson, Lander – 26:06.5

3: Mason Wheeler, Jackson – 26:18.0
