Pole vaulting in track and field isn't for everybody as it requires an immense amount of technique and you can't be afraid of heights. Over the years, Wyoming high schools have produced top-notch vaulters, and one of the guys to watch this season is Kavin Hoff of Natrona.

He won the pole vault at the Casper Indoor Meet on Saturday with a mark of 15 feet 6 inches and has the best indoor mark in the state this season at 16 feet even. He's been battling Maddix Blazovich of Rock Springs for the top honors in this event and it goes back and forth. Hoff won the 2023 Indoor State Championship as a sophomore at 14-6 and Blazovich won the 2023 Outdoor State Championship at 15-6 with Hoff a close 2nd at 15-3.

The NC Mustang has made some serious progress in this event from his freshman year when he took 8th at the Outdoor Championships at 12-6 and placed 8th at the Indoor Championships at 12 feet even. Hoff has a huge upside and it should be an interesting 2024 State Indoor Meet coming up in March. He'll also compete in the Simplot Games in Idaho and we caught up with him after his vaulting efforts on Saturday in Casper.
