Lander Girls Basketball Team Looks for Big Turnaround
The ladies of Lander are 3-3 in the early portion of the basketball season and went 1-2 in the Douglas Tournament before the holidays but also have posted wins over Powell and Star Valley.
A year ago, the Tigers went 7-17, marking the first time they missed the 3A State Tournament in 5 years. This season, Lander gets contributions from just about everybody with Kiera Lincoln averaging 8 points a game, Hayden Googles with 7 and Kiara Friday throwing in 6 per game.
The Tigers do have one all-conference player returning and that's sophomore Adelyn Anderson. She occupies the center spot for Lander but she is adept at handling and passing the ball and can be very productive from the outside. She averaged 7 points and 7 rebounds per game as a freshman and her size makes her a big-time force on defense.
We had a chance to talk with Anderson and teammate Zoe Mulholland after their 2-point win over Pine Bluffs in that Douglas tournament. Take a peek at a few photos of that game as well in our gallery below.
