Two Wyoming track athletes captured events at the 2023 Arcadia Invitational on Friday and Saturday in California.

Lander senior Gage Gose won two sections of hurdle races, and senior Colby Jenks from Big Piney won a section in the open 800 meters.

In the open 110-meter hurdles race, Gose ran 14.31 seconds for the victory. That was faster than the Class 3A state record time of 14.35 seconds set by Powell’s Kyle Sullivan on May 21, 2011. Gose took sixth overall in the 110-hurdles.

The senior came back and won his second race on Saturday in the seeded 300-meter hurdles at a time of 37.29 seconds. That topped the 3A state mark of 37.96 seconds by Powell’s Justin Cross on May 19, 2027. That was the fastest time in the event.

Jenks took first place in section 4 of the open 800 meters. His winning time was 1:52.18. That was over three seconds faster than Jenks’ Class 2A state record in the event at last year’s state championships in Casper. That time was 1:55.59. Jenks took ninth overall in the event.

Cheyenne Central senior Sydney Morrell ran in two races. She took 24th place in the 800 meters at 2:14.71 and was 27th in the 1-mile race at a time of 5:01.08.

Central senior Bridger Brokaw finished in 51st place at 4:24.36 in the 1-mile run.
