The last time Lovell and Lyman met, it was for the 2A state championship back in November. Lyman prevailed 8-6 in that game and these 2 squads met on Friday to renew their rivalry. In what was yet another defensive struggle, it was Lovell prevailing 12-6 in overtime to get to 3-0 on the year. Lovell opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 1-yard plunge to the end zone from Davin Crosby to make it 6-0.

Lyman came back with a TD of their own in the 2nd quarter as Gage Neilson found his way to the end zone. The extra point was missed and it was 6-6 and that's the way it would stay for the rest of regulation.

Lovell would get a touchdown in the extra session from Jared Mangus and the Bulldog defense made that TD stand up for the 12-6 win. Lovell has allowed just 20 points in 3 games this season so they are as gritty as they were last season. Preston and Ben Nichols are certainly formidable on defense. The Bulldogs will be at home to meet Pinedale. Lyman is 2-2 and will face arch-rival Mountain View on Friday.

We have some fantastic photos of the battle between #1 and #2 in 2A on Friday thanks to Dell Barnes. Those images can be found in our gallery below. Take a look!
