For the second straight year, Lovell’s Erika Cook won the 3A Girls’ State Golf Championship with her victory in Lander last weekend.

After bursting on the scene as a freshman last year, Cook defended her title last Friday and Saturday. She was the only golfer to shoot in the 70s both rounds at the Lander Golf Course. Cook went 74 and 76 to win by 15 shots. That’s compared to a seven-stroke victory in 2020.

WyoPreps caught up with Cook after her final round to get her reaction to another title. That’s in the video at the top of this story.

This is Cook, plus Green River’s Isabell Salas and Wheatland’s Lily Nichols, who took second and third, respectively, finishing their final round on the ninth hole.

Here is Cook being presented as the state champion on Saturday in Lander and joining the other golfers in the top 10 that are all-state in 2021. After that is the presentation of the team trophy to Wheatland.

Hard to believe Cook wasn’t even golfing two years ago. She helped the Bulldogs finish third in the team standings.
