The 2A championship game on Saturday morning in Laramie featured two physical teams in Lyman and Lovell. Lyman came into the game as the defending 2A champs with a regular-season win over Lovell. Lyman put a touchdown on the board in the first quarter thanks to a 9 yard run from Chevy Fackrell and the Eagles converted the two-point try which turned out to be huge to make it 8-0.

The defenses were stout for both teams and Lovell broke through in the 4th quarter as Amos Monterde got into the end zone from the 3. Lovell went for 2 to tie the game but Lyman stopped the play to hold on to that 8-6 lead.

That turned out to be the end of the scoring as Lyman got 130 yards rushing from Ashton Houskeeper and the Eagle defense held the Bulldogs to just 121 yards of total offense. The teams combined for just 15 passes with 3 completions.

Lyman makes it back-to-back state titles with 19 consecutive wins over the course of two seasons. Lovell finishes the year at 9-3. Take a look at our video of the contest from Laramie on Saturday as well as some top-notch pics from Dell Barnes in our gallery. Enjoy!
