There was a supreme battle between 2 of the football powers in the southwest part of the state as Mountain View played host to Cokeville in 2A football action last week. Cokeville has been a perennial playoff participant since the early 1990s and Mountain View has made the postseason in 11 of the last 12 years.

This was a rugged game, to say the least with the defenses enjoying some shining moments. On offense, Cokeville led early on a 6-yard run for a touchdown from Kayson Walker to give the Panthers a 6-0 lead. Mountain View will come right back thanks to their All-Star quarterback Justus Platts who threw a 17-yard TD pass to Brockton Walker. The extra point was good and the Buffs led for good at 7-6.

After a scoreless 3rd quarter, Platts found the end zone from 5 yards out to make it 14-6 and the Mountain View defense put the clamps on. This was the Buffaloes' toughest game of the season but they're 4-0 so far after a 14-6 decision. They will host Kemmerer on Saturday afternoon.

Cokeville is 1-2 which includes a win over a tough Lyman team. The Panthers will be at home on Friday afternoon to take on Pinedale. We have some first-class photographs of that Mountain View-Cokeville game in our gallery below. A big thank you to Dell Barnes for his outstanding work!
