PhotoFest! 1A/2A West Regional Track Meet-Shoshoni
1A and 2A track teams from the West gathered in Shoshoni over the weekend for their regional meet. In the 1A girl's division, Emmie Barnes of Cokeville had a terrific meet with 3 wins, the 100-meter dash in 13.50, the 100 hurdles in 15.91, and the long jump at 15-6.25. Her teammate Bryli Groll also won 3 events, the 400 in 1.01.65, the 800 with a time of 2.30.24, and the 1600 meter run in 5.36.93. In the rest of the 1A girl's events on the track, Burlington freshman Brynn Preator placed first in the 200 in 29.22, Whitney Bennett of Saratoga took the tape in the 300 hurdles in 47.26 with Madison Teichman of Saratoga taking the 3200 in 12.56.13. Cokeville won the 4x100 relay and the 4x400. Saratoga won the 4x800 and the 1600 medley. In the field events Burlington's Breanne Walker cleared 4-10 to win the high jump, Maren Baker from Dubois cleared 8-6 to take first in the pole vault, Whitney Bennett posted another win with a leap of 33-6 to take the triple jump, Encampment's Kristie Jordan threw 35-4 to win the shot-put while Jaycee Erving of Meeteetse threw 98-11 to win the discus. In the 1A girl's team standings, Saratoga was first with 145 points, Cokeville 2nd with 130 with Burlington 3rd with 93.
In the 1A boys competition, Burlington's Clayton Edwards turned in a solid performance by winning three events, the 100 in 11.54, the 200 in 22.88, and the high jump at 6 feet even. Saratoga's Grant Bartlett won the 1600 and the 3200 with times of 4.48.94 and 10.38.69. Encampment's Quade Jordan was a 2-event winner in the throwing events, going 49-1 in the shot and 141-1 in the discus. In the rest of the track events, Jack Dayton of Cokeville ran 52.54 to win the 400 and his teammate Drake Plowman ran 2.08.64 to take the 800. In the hurdle events, the 110 winner was Tanner Brown of Cokeville in 16.01 with Wyatt Trembly of Dubois prevailing in the 300 with a time of 41.86. In the relays, Little Snake River won the 4x100, Cokeville the 4x400, Burlington the 4x800, and Farson-Eden the 1600 medley. In the rest of the field events, Dace Bennett of Meeteetse placed first in the long jump at 20-9.25 with Kannadis Peroulis of Little Snake River going 41-1 to win the triple jump. Kyler Winters of Burlington cleared 10-6 to take the pole vault. In the 1A boys team standings, Burlington is first with 150.5, Dubois 2nd with 17.5, and Little Snake River with 100.5.
Over in 2A girls, Riverside's Vaidyn Vanderploeg prevailed in the 100-meter dash in 13.22 and won the 200 in 27.39. Mina King of Wind River took the tape in the 400 in 1.02.27. King also won the high jump, clearing 4-11. In the distance races, Big Piney went 1-2-3 in the 800 with all freshmen, led by Micah Strong at 2.36.81. Jolynn Jones, another Big Piney freshman won the 1600 in 5.41. 80 with Larissa McElroy of Wyoming Indian taking the 3200 in 12.48.09. Shelby Guest of Big Piney ran 17.11 to win the 100 hurdles with Vinaya Vanderploeg of Riverside going 49.09 to place first in the 300. Over in the relays, Big Piney won the 4x400 and the 4x800, Rocky Mountain won the 4x100 with Wyoming Indian the champion of the 1600 medley. In the rest of the field events, Katie Christensen of Rocky Mountain led the long jump at 15-10.75 with Riana Tidwell of Shoshoni going 29-6 to place first in the triple jump. Dakota Cervantes of Riverside cleared 7-6 in the pole vault. In the weight events, Hannah Runyon of Big Piney threw 34-3.5 to win the shot put with Allison Tidzump of Wind River throwing 104-6 to take the discus. Big Piney was the big winner in the team standings with 173, Wind River 2nd with 95, and Rocky Mountain 3rd with 94,
Finally, in 2A boys, Jaycee Herbert of Wind River was a double winner, running 11.58 to win the 100-meter dash and 23.75 to win the 200. Colby Jenks of Big Piney is having a sensational season as he was victorious in the 400 with a time of 50.49 and the 800 in 2.01.20. In addition to those two events, Jenks captured the 1600 meter run in 4.37.04. The 3200 winner was Ryan Hoyt of Riverside in 10.48.44. Big Piney's Hunter Fisher took the tape in the 110 hurdles in 15.94 with none other than Colby Jenks of Big Piney winning the 300 hurdles in 40 flat. Rocky Mountain won the 4x100 relay, Big Piney took the 4x400, Shoshoni the 4x800, and Riverside the 1600 medley. In the field events, Greybull's Aiden Reece won the high jump at 6 feet even and his teammate TJ Davis went 19-4 to win the long jump, The triple jump winner was Kelden Boettcher of Rocky Mountain at 42-1 with his teammate Jackson Hanusa clearing 12 feet to win the pole vault. Thomas Howard from Big Piney threw 113 feet even to take the discus throw while Dylen Clendenenn from Rocky Mountain tossed 39.5.25 to place first in the shot. In the 2A boys team race, Big Piney was first with 170, Rocky Mountain 2nd with 137, and Riverside 3rd with 109.
