The golf season is off and running with more than a few events across the state over the weekend. Wheatland played host to a 2-day tournament and on the boy's side, the host Bulldogs took the top 6 spots. Tate Nichols of Wheatland led the way as the sophomore shot 68 and 70 to win the tournament by 12 shots over his teammate Jacob Miller. Nichols took 3rd place at the 3A State Tournament in 2023. Miller carded rounds of 70-70 with Brecken Sandlian taking 3rd with a 76 & 80. Wheatland placed first in the team standings with Laramie a distant 2nd.

On the ladies, side, Wheatland's Haylee Nelson took top honors with an 84 and 86, with a 9th place finish at last year's 3A State Tournament. Maddie Brace of Douglas was 2nd one stroke off the pace with an 85 and 86 with Bailey Wright of Douglas 3rd, shooting 89 and 91. Douglas took 1st in the team standings by a substantial margin with Torrington 2nd.
