The new WyoPreps Coaches and Media Girls Basketball Poll features a pair of new No. 1 ranked teams.

From the preseason poll to the second one, there’s a fair amount of change. There are four new teams to the rankings and movement in all four classifications.

The biggest jump happened in Class 2A, as the Moorcroft Wolves moved up three spots to take over No. 1 in that division. Rocky Mountain pushed up to second. Wyoming Indian, whose season remains up in the air, slides down to third. Sundance dropped to fourth, while Pine Bluffs shares the No. 5 spot with Tongue River, who is new to the poll. Four other teams received votes in the 2A rankings.

Kaycee takes over the top position in Class 1A. The Buckaroos received more second and third-place votes, which pushed them past Cokeville by six points. The Panthers fell to No. 2. Upton fell one spot to third, while Southeast held in fourth. There are three teams tied for fifth in the 1A poll, Meeteetse, Little Snake River, and Encampment. The last two are new to this week’s rankings. Four more teams earned votes.

In Class 4A, Thunder Basin maintains the top spot with 13 first-place votes. Cheyenne East and Cheyenne Central hold onto their positions of second and third, respectively. Natrona County moves up one to fourth. Campbell County makes their debut in the poll at No. 5. Seven more teams received at least one vote in the 4A poll.

The top five teams remained the same in Class 3A, but they are in a different order, as teams traded places. Douglas is the lone unanimous No. 1 ranked team in girls’ basketball in the state. Lyman moved past rival Mountain View for second by six points in the balloting. Lander pushed up to fourth, while Worland fell to fifth. Six other girls’ teams in 3A received votes this week.
