2 rivals went at it in the 3a semi-finals on Friday night as Powell made the short trip to over Cody. Powell took it right to Cody to start the game with a long drive that ended with a Landon Lengfelder touchdown so the panthers led 7-0.  That was followed by a 51 yard run for a score from Brody Karhu so that bumped the Panther lead to 14-0. Cody got something on the board thanks to a long TD connection from Hunter Hays to Tristan Blatt.  Powell wasn’t finished in the first half as Lengfelder scored on a 10 keeper so a great first half for Powell leading 20-7 at halftime

Cody inched closer in the 2nd half on an 8 yard Td catch from Charlie Beaudrie so the Broncs were right back into the game trailing 20-13.  After that, it was a defensive struggle and Powell held the line for the rest of the 4th quarter holding Cody to less than 50 yards rushing in the contest. The Powell Panthers who have faced enormous adversity this year with their starting quarterback Ethan Asher severely injured in a car accident before the season will now play star valley in the 3a title game in Laramie on Friday. Thanks to a 20-13 win over Cody in the semi-final round. The Panthers were the 4th seed from the west and sit at 7-4 on the year. Cody’s season comes to an end at 8-3.
