Big Horn super athlete Quinn McCafferty had plenty of options when it came to his college athletic career. At the end of the recruiting process, he settled on Western Nebraska in Scottsbluff. In the 2019 season with the Sheridan Troopers, McCafferty hit 304 with 52 hits, 40 RBI's, and 35 runs scored. He was also very effective on the mound with a record of 12-6 with 5 saves. McCafferty struck out 71 and walked 17 in 2019.

The young man was a stud in football as Big Horn won 2 straight 1A state championships and went 11-0 in both of those seasons. McCafferty was the Rams quarterback and threw for 1477 yards with 21 touchdown passes and 3 interceptions in 2019. He also had 3 rushing TD's and caught a TD pass. In addition to that, McCafferty had 52 tackles on defense, 36 were solo.

In the 2018 season, McCafferty had another sensational season with 1731 yards passing with 27 touchdown passes and 3 interceptions. He averaged 170 all-purpose yards per game and completed 63% of his passes. In his sophomore year, McCafferty threw for 1800 yards with 21 TD passes and 8 picks. He was named all-state in all three of those seasons in football.

McCafferty was also an all-state selection in basketball in 2020 as he averaged 13 points and 5 rebounds per game.
