Riverton’s Parker Paxton is the WyoPreps Athlete of the Year for Boys Golf [VIDEO]
The first WyoPreps Athlete of the Year Award, presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming, went to Riverton’s Parker Paxton for boys’ golf.
Paxton finished his fall high school career with a fourth straight Class 3A state championship. He was a unanimous choice for the honor.
The senior won all five tournaments he played in during the fall 2023 season. His scoring average was 65.4. Paxton won the 3A state title last month in Worland with rounds of 68 and 65 for a two-shot victory. He became the third boys’ golfer to win four consecutive state championships.
In the video above, WyoPreps’ David Settle presented the award to Paxton on Tuesday in Riverton. Parker reflected on his career at RHS, his senior season, the state championships that pushed him the most, he looked ahead to his future, and more.
For his career, Paxton won 21 of the 22 tournaments he participated in at the high school level. His only loss was in Worland as a junior. Paxton’s scoring average improved each year. He was at 69.4 as a freshman, 68.1 as a sophomore, 67.5 as a junior, and 65.4 as a senior.
Parker maintains a 3.8 GPA in the classroom and will sign his National Letter of Intent next month to play golf on scholarship at the University of Colorado. Paxton is also the reigning Gatorade Wyoming Boys Basketball Player of the Year.
Congratulations to Parker Paxton!
