Seven Wyoming Female Golfers are at the 2023 National High School Golf Invitational
The 2023 High School Golf National Invitational for girls will be Monday through Wednesday at the brand-new PGA Frisco campus in Texas.
Seven girls are participating from Wyoming in this year’s event on July 10-12, 2023. Kelly Walsh has a four-member team, while three others are playing as individuals.
Representing Kelly Walsh are Madison Griffin, Carli and Haily Kalus, and Sydney Van Houten. Green River’s Isabell Salas, Sheridan’s Samantha Spielman, and Wheatland’s Lily Nichols are playing as individuals. KW, Salas, and Nichols start on the Old American Golf Club course. Spielman is part of the field that will play the Fields Ranch West Course. There is also a Fields Ranch East Course in Frisco, TX.
Including the boys’ event, there are 520 golfers in the two fields (girls’ and boys’) from 49 states that are part of this year’s event.
To qualify for this event, teams must win their respective state championship. They also must have an average stroke differential of 45.0 per round according to the NHSGA State Rankings to be eligible. An individual must meet similar standards. They must win their respective state championship to be eligible or have an average stroke differential of 6.0 per round according to the NHSGA State Rankings.
The boys’ event is on Monday, July 17 through Wednesday, July 19, and is also at the PGA Frisco campus in Texas.
