Shoshoni had the distinction of playing their neighbor Wind River from Pavillion in the 1A 9 Man semi-finals on Friday. The Shoshoni defense seemed to have Wind River's number with a shut-out in the regular season and then posting another shut-out in the post-season. That defense also produced a touchdown with Jaxson Stanley returning a fumble 25 yards for a touchdown to give the Wranglers a 6-0 lead.

The Shoshoni offense did their part too as Pehton Truempler came through with a 3 yard run for a score to bump the Wrangler lead to 12.  Alex Mills followed that up with a 2-yard plunge to the end zone and with the successful two-point try, the home team led 20-0.

There was just one score in the 2nd half as Trumpler took it in from 3 yards out as Shoshoni qualifies for a state championship football game for the first time since 1985. The final in this game was 27-0 so Shoshoni at 9-1 will play Rocky Mountain for the 9 Man title on Saturday at 1 pm at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie. The Wranglers beat the Grizzlies in the regular season. Wind River's season comes to a close with a record of 7-3.

Be sure and take a look at the fabulous photos from this game in Fremont County compliments of Bridget Truempler. Enjoy!
