Wyoming High School Skiing Scoreboard: Feb. 9-10, 2024
Both disciplines of high school skiing in Wyoming will be in action this weekend, as they look to take advantage of conditions in Lander and Casper. Nordic skiers head to South Pass for competition, while Alpine goes back to Casper for the second time in three weekends. The Week 8 schedule features the Lander Invite and another Casper Invite.

WYOMING HIGH SCHOOL SKIING SCHEDULE WEEK 8
Nordic Skiing
After having last week’s race postponed due to snow conditions west of Cody, the cross-country ski season has only three weeks left, and that includes the state championship races. The Lander Invitational will be on the Beaver Creek Nordic trails southwest of Lander near South Pass.
Friday will feature a 5km freestyle or skate race starting at noon. Boys’ varsity skiers will be on the course first followed by girls’ varsity skiers. There is no JV race. Skiers will start at 15-second intervals. Saturday will be a 7.5km classic race starting at 10 a.m. Girls’ varsity skiers will be on the course first followed by boys’ varsity skies. This will also have 15-second interval starts and no JV race.
Skiers from Cody, Jackson, Kelly Walsh, Lander, Laramie, Natrona County, Pinedale, and Sheridan will be racing.
Friday Race Results
Lander's Ameya Eddy won the girls' race at 17:51.07. Sheridan's Kayley Alicke was second (18:03.77), and Emily Anderson from Lander took third (18:11.44).
Bennett Hutchison of Lander won the boys' division at 14:47.71. Kalel Brubaker from Natrona County placed second (14:56.33), and Fisk Johanssen of Kelly Walsh finished third (15:04.27).
Saturday Race Results
Final Girls Team Standings = Lander 226, Kelly Walsh 177, Cody 118, Laramie 106, Sheridan 97, Natrona County 85, Jackson 77, Pinedale 44.
Final Boys Team Standings = Kelly Walsh 235, Lander 206, Natrona County 195, Laramie 149, Sheridan 108, Jackson 40, Pinedale 8, Cody 2.
Lander's Ameya Eddy completes the weekend sweep. She took first in the girls' classic race at 31:15.61. Annika Wilmot of Lander was second (31:26.41). Eleanor Veuthier of Kelly Walsh finished third (31:42.06).
In the boys' division, Fisk Johanssen of Kelly Walsh won the classic race at 25:03.97. Lander's Bennett Hutchison was second (25:08.42), and NC's Kalel Brubaker took third (25:16.14).
Alpine Skiing
The fourth event for downhill skiers is the Britt Farr Memorial Ski race hosted by Natrona County High School at Hogadon Basin Ski Area on Casper Mountain. The racing has slalom skiing on Friday and GS on Saturday. Both races will be held on the ‘Boomerang ‘ski run at Hogadon. Both days are scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
NC will host racers from Cody, Jackson, Kelly Walsh, Laramie, and Pinedale.
Friday Race Results
Jackson swept the top three spots in the girls' race. Kylie MacMillan won the slalom at 1:27.15. Teammate Madeline Ryan was second, and teammate Brynn Crabtree placed third.
Jackson also took the top three positions in the boys' race. Travis D'Amours was the winner at 1:19.86. He won by nearly five seconds. Teammates Adi Wetzler and Brett Lane were second and third, respectively.
Saturday Race Results
Girls Final Team Standings = Jackson 112, Cody 46, Natrona County 44, Kelly Walsh 41, Pinedale 40, Laramie 1.
Boys Final Team Standings = Jackson 128, Natrona County 65, Pinedale 60, Kelly Walsh 39, Cody 28, Laramie 22.
Jackson's Kylie MacMillan won the GS race to complete the sweep at Casper. She finished a two-run combined time at 1:12.41. Lu Reed of Kelly Walsh finished second, and Ceci Bruno of Jackson came in third place.
Travis D'Amours made it a weekend sweep at Hogadon Basin with a GS win at 1:08.62. Teammate Liam Logan was second, and Natrona's Jack Canepa came in third.
