Jackson Girls Rise to No. 1 in WyoPreps Soccer Polls Shakeup

A new top-ranked team in Class 4A girls, plus four new teams in the top five, is part of the latest WyoPreps Coaches and Media Soccer Polls unveiled on Wednesday afternoon. Jackson has ascended to No. 1 in 4A girls after wins over Green River and Riverton last week. That puts both Bronc’s soccer programs in the top spot. Every division saw at least one change compared to last week.

After Jackson in 4A girls, Kelly Walsh fell one spot to second. Riverton was pushed down to third. Laramie held onto the fourth spot, but the Lady Plainsmen find themselves tied with poll newcomer Green River for the No. 4 ranking. Four other teams earned votes.

Class 3A girls changed for the first time in a few weeks, as Mountain View debuted in the poll at No. 5. The top four remained the same. Cody got 17 of the 18 first-place votes. Powell continued in second, followed by Lander and East Conference leader Buffalo in third and fourth, respectively.

In 3A boys, Buffalo held the No. 1 ranking with 10 of the 15 first-place votes. Cody received the other five ballots for the top spot, but the Broncs held onto second. Lander was steady at No. 3. Worland and Mountain View jumped into the poll. The Warriors’ 4-1 win at fifth-ranked Torrington, combined with a draw against Cody last week, impressed enough voters that Worland came in fourth. The Buffalos rejoined in the fifth position.

Class 4A boys had the least amount of change. Jackson led the way again, with 14 of the 17 votes for first place. The difference was no tie for second. Kelly Walsh claimed that spot after road wins at Rock Springs and Green River. Sheridan fell to third after a win and a draw on the road. Thunder Basin was fourth, and Green River remained fifth.
